Y'all -- I had the honor of interviewing the coolest chick!
Y'all have to check her out! We played 20+ questions, and she was so gracious
to play along.
1. Please tell us a little about yourself. I am 14 years old and home schooling in
Washington. I want to be a screenwriter/director someday, which of course
involves a lot of writing. I write whenever I have the time; which, since I home
school, is pretty much whenever.
2. What song or book or movie best fits your life? And why? I am crazy obsessed
with movies, books, and music, but I don’t think there will ever be anything out there that could be enough of a match to answer this question.
3. If you could have only one book for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? This question is a bibliophile’s worst nightmare. Probably Blindness by Josè Saramago, though I don’t think I’ve found “the One” yet.
4. If you were a cartoon character, who would you be and why? Haruhi Fujioka from Ouran High School Host Club. She’s not as well known as, say, Bugs Bunny or Mickey Mouse, but she fits the best. She’s unique and doesn’t place stock in material or superficial things. Her personality is a lot like my own.
5. What color do you think you would be and why? Now, now, do we really need to bring color into this?
6. What is your favorite food? Why? Apples and peanut butter. Why? Because it tastes good, why else?
7. What flavor Kool-Aid are you, and why? No clue. I don’t drink Kool-Aid.
8. If you had to live without your car or your computer, which would you choose? Car. I hate cars. I don’t even have one now. I ride the bus.
9. If you had to live without your cell phone or books, which would you choose? Welllll, I don’t have a cell phone, so that pretty much answers that question.
10. How old were you when you started writing (in a journal, or stories, etc)? I was 10, and I wrote a short horror story called “The Ghost of Maple Street Mansion.” It was dumb, but it was the first thing I wrote that
wasn’t for school.
11. Do you have any funny stories from growing up that you can share? Probably, but I’m no good at telling anecdotes.
12. What’s your favorite thing to do to relax? Sleep.
13. If you had to be one of your characters, which would you be and why? I have a character named Fletcher. He’s kind of a spacey, and that’s what I’m told I’m like, so he’s probably perfect.
14. Right now, what book are you reading? I usually read several books simultaneously. One of them right now is The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.
15. Do you read online, on a Nook/Kindle, paperback, etc.? I prefer reading paperback/hardback, although sometimes I have to read PDF files and Kindle books off my computer as requests from indie authors.
16. Where do you normally read? My kitchen floor, next to the stove. Don’t ask.
17. Did you always want to be an author? No. My previous desired professions are a pilot, an actress, and a dermatologist. Right now my interests are author/screenwriter/director. Hopefully I can do all three, as they do somewhat go together.
18. If you are not yet published, but are writing, where do you write? Do you need anything to help you get in the mood for writing? I can’t write when I want to write. I get my best ideas when I don’t have a pen and paper to right them down. Convenient, yes? My creative subconscious loves to torture me in this way.
19. How many books do you think you have read to date? Upwards of 300.
20. Which is your favorite book? Why? I think Blindness by Jose Saramago is an incredible novel. It’s well-written and thought-provoking, with amazing character and plot development. Although my favorite book is always subject to change, so that answer isn’t written in stone.
21. Who is your favorite author? Probably Edgar Allan Poe, though I don’t think I’ve found a favorite author yet.
22. What would you say is your favorite genre to read? I have no genre. I read everything. It just depends how creative and well written the story is, and how much I like it. Genre is irrelevant.
